UZ Arts, in association with South Ayrshire Council, produced the live music for the Burns an' a' that Festival, 24th - 26th May 2013.
We were delighted to work with South Ayrshire Council bringing live music and arts to the people of Ayrshire. There was been a change from last year's venue of the town centre to the beautiful surroundings of Ayr's Belleisle Park. Nestled in the Belleisle Mansion Lawn our live music tent was jumping with with music including our headline acts featuring Justin Currie and The Bluebells.
Justin Currie, with support from Rachel Sermanni, was ticketed but all our other events were free. Other performers who played at the festival were Rose Parade, Ruth Martin, Siiga, Sketch, Little Fire, Pronto Mama, Rose Room and The New Piccadillys. Full line up details could be found on the Burns an' a' that! Festival website.
Thor McIntyre's "The Speakers" and Sumit Sarkar's "Buzzbeak"
Over the festival weekend we also presented artists Thor McIntyre, who created the sound installation "The Speakers" in the woodland of the Park and Sumit Sarkar with sound designer Guy Veale, who brought the Transformers! inspired condor creation Buzzbeak. The interactive animatronic musical condor was also in Ayr town centre on Friday 24th May, inviting the public to the Festival in the Park to play music to her and in return receive a unique interpretation of the gift.
The Park was also full of activity provided by South Ayrshire with the Walled Garden providing music and story telling, craft and market stalls, a picnic area and a funfair, all within Belleisle Park on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May 2013.
There were other performances and exhibitions in Ayr throughout May as part of the Burns an' a' that! Festival 2013. More info at www.burnsfestival.com for full line up details.

UZ produced the outdoor and music program for the Burns an' a' that! Festival in Ayrshire.
The Burns an' a' that! Festival is a five day tribute to Scotland's internationally acclaimed poet, Robert Burns. The 2012 programme was a heady concoction of live music, film, drama, comedy, arts & culture, literature, food & drink and family entertainment celebrating Scottish culture at its best.
Live music featured James Grant & Friends and The Complete Stone Roses whose support was the winner of PM Music's competition for emerging bands.
Street performances included Mischief La-Bas' Festival of Fudge, Musical Ruth with her mobile piano, Big Rory the Giant and his dog Ochie and some fishy goings on with Conflux's Fish Out of Water.
Café talks also were performed at Su Casa Coffee House where young folk singer-songwriter Alistair Ogilvy, poet and novelist Alan Bisset and celebrated drag king Diane Torr performed their slant on Scottish music and literature.
As part of the UZ's Roofless project, Artist Olivier Grossetete created his latest work during the festival aided by local school children. People of all ages were enlisted to help make the gigantic tower that was lifted, moved and then toppled to the delighted cries of the audience. Sonic and visual arts by Jane Pitt and Michelle Letowska were exhibited in the St John's Tower and at the Auld Kirk award-winning film-makers Ruth Carslaw and Gordon Rodgers presented their projected art piece Poker Stoker.
