EVENT
Artist Steven Hurrel was commissioned to create a light installation highlighting Glasgow’s Skyline and key buildings. The aim was to create a dialogue between buildings of architectural, cultural and commercial significance within the centre of Glasgow using internally and externally projected light and image.
Iconic skyline buildings signifying Glasgow’s architectural and cultural past were selected for external illumination using programmed sequences of projected, coloured light. (i.e. Glasgow University Tower, the Southern Rotunda, The Finnieston Crane, Kingston Bridge, City Spires)
Commercial office blocks, from past to current developments, were selected to signify architectural progression and cultural shifts within the city. Through programmed internal illumination using projected coloured lighting, selected office suite windows were activated (i.e. coloured lights moving across buildings, creating lines of light and random flashes).
A dialogue was created between the buildings contrasting with the externally illuminated structures across the skyline.
