Every year there are more galleries wanting to take part and our Selection Panel has a harder task with more to choose from and an increasing diversity of work. As always we welcome old and new friends from Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and across the UK and this year we’re delighted to be joined by galleries from Barcelona, Dublin and Prague. We believe that we are showing the best of contemporary visual art across a broad spectrum. The Glasgow Art Fair has always had a mission to educate as well as entertain. Our audience has a great reputation for being knowledgeable and keenly interested in the work on show. All of it of course is available to buy and to own.
We would like to thank all participants, artists, galleries and partners who have contributed to making the Glasgow Art Fair become a world renowned success over the previous years.

Glasgow Art Fair organisers were delighted to record breaking visitor numbers and that plans to smash previous years sales figures are firmly on target.
Over four days from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 March, 2008, this, the biggest Art Fair outside of London, attracted a huge 17,000 visitors.
It is expected the amount of art purchased will at least match the £1.2m worth of paintings, prints, sculptures, photography, ceramics and drawings sold last year.
Located within its trademark white tented pavilions which dominate George Square in the heart of Glasgow's city centre, this eagerly anticipated annual art buying extravaganza offers its 16,500 visitors four days of buying, selling and discovering art.
Having firmly established itself as the UK's most prestigious contemporary Art Fair outside of London since its inception in 1996, Glasgow Art Fair 2008 will showcase a record 46 selected galleries from Scotland, the rest of the UK, Europe and beyond exhibiting work by over 1000 artists.
Glasgow's outstanding reputation for the visual arts; the Art Fair's status as a platform for encouraging and developing Scotland's art buying market, together with the City's position as a European shopping and style capital, make Glasgow an ideal platform to present the best of contemporary art for sale and to encourage its residents and visitors alike to invest in new pieces.
With sales figures exceeding £1.2million and individual purchases ranging from as little as £50 to over £80,000, occasional art buyers and dedicated collectors alike recognise Glasgow Art Fair as the place to view and discover quality work by established artists and cutting edge talent across a wide range of media.

A painting by internationally acclaimed Scottish Artist, Ann Redpath sold for £85,000 at this year’s Glasgow Art Fair; a sum which breaks all previous records of individual sales over the past twelve years of the art fair’s existence.
The oil painting Houses in Laiguelia, sold at the Duncan Miller Fine Art Gallery stand, was painted by the artist in the 1950’s. Other major purchases include a further oil painting White Flowers by the same artist, sold on the same stand for £75,000. Meanwhile, an oil painting by legendary Scottish Colourist, Edward Hornel sold for £42,000.
The significant rise in purchase prices is accompanied by record visitor numbers. Over the four days from Thursday 19 April until Sunday 22 April, the fair welcomed over 18,500 visitors. This number represents an increase of 14% on last year’s figures and beats all previous years.
It is expected the amount of art purchased will at least match the £1.1m worth of paintings, prints, sculptures and drawings sold last year.
A spokesperson for the Glasgow Art Fair said: ‘Whilst it is too early to know the amount of art works sold, we are expecting a figure in excess of last year. Every morning, the fair had more than 100 potential art buyers queuing right around the sides of the white tented pavilion in George Square, waiting for the doors to open. Buyers included customers from as far afield as Spain and Russia.’
Pete Irvine, Director, Glasgow Art Fair commented: ‘In our desire to drive up standards and show the best possible range of good contemporary visual art, the art fair’s rigorous selection process continues to prove extremely successful. The incredibly positive response from galleries; the significant increase in sales and the massive attendance at this year’s art fair clearly demonstrates that the event provides the quality and diversity, the public wants.
Meanwhile, at the art fair’s celebrity art auction held on Thursday 19 April, artworks fetched over £4000 in aid of the Marie Curie Big Build Appeal to create a new hospice for the City.
In support of the £8m public appeal, Glasgow Art Fair invited bids from the general public to acquire artworks by internationally acclaimed artists, John Byrne, Peter Howson, Anita Klein and Peter Goodfellow. The auction was led by celebrity auctioneer, Anita Manning.
Peter Goodfellow, artist and Director, The Lost Gallery, Aberdeenshire, who donated one of his works for auction, said: ‘I was delighted to donate one of my Scottish Mountain paintings for auction, to help raise funds for such a great cause, especially as the auction price realised a good deal more than the original selling price. ‘Needless to say, the buyer was over the moon at her purchase and to know that all money was going towards helping the Marie Curie Big Build Appeal.’
Anita Manning, auctioneer said: ‘The people of Glasgow were so generous in buying the artworks at the Glasgow Art Fair art auction. The amount of money raised demonstrated a tremendous example of Glasgow’s warmth and generosity as supporters opened their hearts and their wallets for this worthy and exciting project.’
Anita Manning aka the 'Golden Gavel', offered her support to proceedings on the night by presiding as auctioneer. A dealer with 20 years experience; who became the first woman auctioneer in Scotland in 1989 and who is the proud owner of Glasgow’s Great Western Auctions, Manning is now a familiar face on the BBC's antiques show Flog It.
Fiona Buchanan, owner, Heart Buchanan, Glasgow and one of those who bought an art work in support of the Appeal said: ‘I’m so delighted to have had the opportunity to buy a beautiful art work by one of my favourite artists, Anita Klein, which was so generously donated by Advanced Graphics Gallery, for the charity auction. And it is a double pleasure for me that the money I have spent on the work will go some way towards helping Marie Curie realise such a vital new resource for the city.’
Glasgow Art Fair 2007 took place from Thursday 19th April until Sunday 22nd April 2007.
