Only in it's second year, the event saw delegate sales increase by 32%, with even more attendees coming from out with Scotland than in it's inagrual year in 2002. Over 500 delegates representing 14 different countries and 300 different organisations converged on Glasgow to discuss global issues affecting the music industry.
MusicWorks 2003 presented a dynamic programme of seminars, exhibitions, live music, experimental fringe events and networking opportunities over four stimulating days. Some of the highlights included; Alan Morris, the Executive Vice President of Sharman Networks Ltd previewing the new beta version of Kazaa V2.6, the latest update of the world’s most popular file sharing software. David Arnold’s fascinating insight into his extensive work as resident Bond movie composer and a fascinating presentation by the Swiss legend Dieter Meier of Yello. For the final seminar, Sholto Ramsay, MD of HelpMeGo.To Ltd gave his off the wall prediction on where the music industry will be in one, ten and fifty years time. Neil Butler, Director of MusicWorks said:
"This year’s Convention has established MusicWorks as a major event in the music industry calendar and as the Convention for networking and exploring new business opportunities that are emerging across different sectors of the music industry such as film, TV, video, games and new media. It is also undeniably a great showcase for the Scottish music industry and Scotland".
The dates of next year’s MusicWorks Convention will be announced in January 2004.
