“Reveal”, a curated programme as part of Newcastle Gateshead’s Winter Festival, is UZ's latest project and is set to be a highlight of the winter festival.
The programme of especially created new work presents a series of unique and surprising events that have never taken place in the UK and take advantage of some of the area’s iconic architecture.
World Class Artists will illuminate the city with the world’s greatest pyrotechnic company Groupe F being artists in residence from December 2nd - 18th. They will create a series of installations and performances across buildings and the sky culminating in a spectacular finale on the Quayside and across the world famous Millennium Bridge that joins Newcastle and Gateshead.
Mischief La Bas and Dot Comedy will create a series of tours of the city that investigate little know “alleged” facts about the cities history and people. It is expected that the audience will be revealed to be stars of the show.
Newcastle and Gateshead Artists and photographers have been commissioned and collections created to be projected upon giant screens across the cities. Work will be presented by Nik Barrerra, Mark Pinder Steve Meyes, David Goard, Ollie Walker and Sally Ann Norman.
Neil Butler, UZ Managing Director and Festival curator said: “This one off project provides a wonderful opportunity to work in another city that values the power of culture and art to support the cities regeneration. Newcastle Gateshead have shown a strong sense of vision to commit major resources to an arts programme to compliment the Winter entertainment programme.”
