UZ is delighted to announce that they have been contracted by the Scottish Executive to co-ordinate the Scotland Run, as part of Tartan Week in New York.
Tartan Week, now in its seventh year, is a focal point for Americans to celebrate their Scottish links and all things Scottish. Through a combined promotion of Scotland’s traditional image alongside the cultural, artistic developments of contemporary Scotland, The Scottish Executive, Visit Scotland and a number of Scottish-American societies aim to increase awareness in USA of Scotland as a great place to visit, study, work and live.
The Scotland Run, taking place on Sunday 3 April 2005 through Central Park is one of the highlights of Tartan Week and also acts as one of the pre-qualifiers for the ING New York Marathon, making the 10K race seriously competitive.
In association with the New York Road Runners [NYRR], The Scotland Run will attract around 3,500 runners from across the United States and Scotland with an expected turnout of around 7,000 spectators. Rousing music from Scots pipers and the Gutty Slippers will provide entertainment and encourage runners along the route. The top three winners in New York will be awarded free places in Glasgow’s Great Scottish Run in September 2005.
Tartan Week is sponsored by the Scottish Executive. Further information is available at www.scotlandinusa.com and www.tartanweek.com
